As a leader in innovation, technology, and performance, we expect big things from Alfa Romeo in 2019. From ground-breaking new models to game-changing innovations, Alfa Romeo is already poised to outdo itself this year. Here are a few of the biggest headlines coming in 2019.

Model Updates

2019 Stelvio

Named after the world’s most famous driving road, the Stelvio Pass in Italy, this year’s Stelvio represents the greatest of Italian style while offering the pinnacle of SUV performance. It’s handcrafted by seasoned automotive artisans and engineers at the Cassino plant in Italy, receiving the greatest attention to quality and precision, and it holds the Nürburgring record for the fastest production SUV with a lap time of 7 minutes and 51.7 seconds, at the time this article was written. How can Alfa Romeo improve upon such outstanding achievement for the new model year?

The 2019 Stelvio offers new standard content, including Apple Carplay™ and Android Auto™ connectivity on all trims, and the peerless Stelvio Quadrifoglio now comes standard with anodized brake calipers with red Alfa Romeo script and 20-inch forged-aluminum wheels. Plus, buyers now have the option to upgrade all trim levels to include heated rear seats and a premium integrated alarm system.

2019 Giulia

The new-generation Alfa Romeo Giulia realizes the brand’s ethos of “the mechanics of emotion.” This sedan offers timeless Italian style in the body, peerless luxury amenities in the interior, and race-inspired muscle under the hood. The drivers in the new Giulia will enjoy unmatched performance with a class-leading 280 horsepower and the available Q4 all-wheel-drive system. Step up to the top-tier Giulia Quadrifoglio, and you’ll be rewarded with another segment-leader, thanks to a best-in-class, 505-horsepower, 2.9-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine. This stealthy fighter jet has earned the title of the most powerful Alfa Romeo production car ever with a class-leading 3.8-second 0-60-mph time. It also holds the Nürburgring record for the fastest lap time ever by a four-door production sedan, at the time this article was written.

For the new year, Alfa Romeo offers new standard features, like 19-inch aluminum wheels for the Giulia Ti Sport, as well as anodized brake calipers with red Alfa Romeo script and 40/20/40 folding rear seats with third rear headrest for the Giulia Quadrifoglio.

2019 4C Spider

The brand’s racing DNA comes to the forefront in this mid-engined roadster. Another handcrafted masterpiece from Alfa Romeo, the 4C Spider showcases a state-of-the-art Formula 1-inspired carbon fiber monocoque chassis, delivering an incredible 10.4 power-to-weight ratio. The all-aluminum 1750cc turbocharged engine with direct-injection, dual intercoolers, and variable-valve timing enables supercar-level performance. All of this advanced engineering allows drivers to enjoy 237 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, launching from 0-60 mph in 4.1 seconds with a top speed of 160 mph.

The 2019 model year offers new standard safety features, including rear parking sensors and a rear backup camera, bringing the Spider in line with the upcoming regulations by the NHTSA. Buyers will also have new upgrade options to further improve upon the already impressive weight and handling, like the available race-tuned suspension, microfiber steering wheel, and carbon fiber Italian flag mirrors.

New Premium Packages

Both the Stelvio and Giulia will now come available with the distinct styling of the Nero Edizione package (pictured above). Both of these gorgeous models step over to the dark side with subdued exterior trim appointments, including dark headlamp bezels, black window surrounds, dark aluminum wheels, and a dark miron V scudetto grille.

Also on offer is the Ti Sport Carbon package (pictured below) for both the Stelvio and Giulia. This package includes carbon fiber trim upgrades to lighten the total body weight, thereby increasing performance. It also looks pretty sleek with carbon fiber mirror caps, side skirts, and illuminated doors sills. On the inside, carbon fiber interior accents complement the leather-wrapped dash and upper door trim with accent stitching.

Alfa Romeo Racing Team Grows

On the track side of the Alfa Romeo universe, the brand’s Sauber F1 Team gets new talent for the 2019 season. Kimi Räikkönen, the 2007 Formula One World Champion from Finland will add his track-tested expertise to an already talented team. He has already secured 20 Grands Prix wins and 100 podiums in his successful career, and the Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Team has already expressed excitement at the new addition:

Signing Kimi Räikkönen as our driver represents an important pillar of our project and brings us closer to our target of making significant progress as a team in the near future. Kimi’s undoubted talent and immense experience in Formula One will contribute not only to the development of our car, but will also accelerate the growth and development of our team as a whole. Together, we will start the 2019 season with a strong foundation, driven by the determination to fight for results that count.

- Frédéric Vasseur, CEO of Sauber Motorsport and Team Principal of the Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Team
